Job Description

The Community Activity Link worker will focus Members on what matters through shared decision making, connecting Members to community groups and agencies for meaningful engagement in activities.  The Community Activity Link worker will collaborate with local partners to support community groups to be accessible and sustainable.

The Community Activity Link Worker will support with delivering a programme of events, activities, and holidays for our Members - persons with learning disabilities and autism, in the wider community.

The key success criteria are that members experience ‘Livingness’ - have fun, enjoy a social life and build independence, confidence and self-esteem.

 The Community Link Worker will work with Members, volunteers, sessional facilitators, and key stakeholders to develop a creative programme of social, cultural and leisure activities for young Jewish adults with learning disability and autism.

The programme developed by the Community Activity Link Worker will play a significant role in energising members to be active participants in the community by organising activities, events and planning future holidays with individuals and groups.

Key tasks

  • To develop skills, healthy living, friendships, and independence of Members
  • To connect Members to community groups and partner organisations who provide events and activities
  • Involve Members in planning of the activities, promote the arranged programme, ensuring that members can participate and contribute.
  • Co-ordinate and deliver the activities in a flexible manner.
  • To ensure a broad range of meaningful social, cultural and recreation activities to ensure community presence.
  • To ensure Jewish Ethos and Cultural awareness is embedded within the programme.
  • To plan, arrange and coordinate inclusive annual holiday arrangements for members.
  • To be able to work alongside and offer guidance to volunteers.
  • To always work within Langdon’s policies and procedures including Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding and Health & Safety Policies.
  • To maintain confidentiality in line with the safeguarding policy.
  • To be willing to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
  • To organise and/or participate in key Langdon events held throughout the year such as the charity Fun run’s, Langdon bike ride & Jewish Festival events and parties.

Experience and skills Required


  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent with grade A-C in Maths & English
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults in a relevant setting / community.
  • Understand what social prescribing is and what it is not
  • Understand how to make a positive connection with a person for the first time over the phone and face to face
  • A warm and friendly, approachable person with good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent, effective verbal presentation and written communication skills.
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • An ability to write reports and use of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to use imagination to generate new ideas/ solve problems
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload.
  • Punctual, reliable, calm and self-motivating
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively without direct supervision

  • Must have an understanding of the role of this sector and be sensitive towards the Jewish culture and religion
  • Ability to work, weekends, evenings and bank holidays


  • Level 2 diploma in supporting activities Provision in Social Care
  • Level 3 diploma in Health & Social Care
  • Understand how to use a strengths-based approach when working with people
  • Understand the concepts of motivational interviewing and a solution focused approach
  • Previous experience organising activities and events ​
  • Previous experience of using social media (Facebook, Instagram) to drive engagement with clear and effective messaging.
  • Understand active listening techniques
  • Full, clean driving licence with appropriate category to drive a minibus.
